A Simple Sucker For Romance

I couldn’t take my eyes off her as I walked into my English class. Out teacher told us we could sit wherever we liked and she asked me if I wanted to sit next to her. I nodded in the most casual way possible whilst inside I was thinking ‘Oh yes! Thank God she chooses me!’ I always liked Honey. He name pretty much summed her up entirely. Honey gold hair that fell to her waist, melting blue eyes and a sweet personality. That is what I liked best about her, her honest, kind, bubbly and sweet personality. We were watching a DVD about war. My Dad is in the Army. I wondered if I should tell her this… but she speaks to me before I can say anything.
“These sorts of thing always make me sad, and sometimes cry. I don’t like the thought of people dying and risking their lives like this...” Her voice is as gorgeous as her appearance.
“My Dad is in the war… I know how you feel” I am surprised that I am telling her this, I hardly speak to her, but I feel like I can trust her so I carry on. “It scares me; I didn’t do anything for days… I just felt empty” I looked at her, in the eyes. Something I hadn’t dared to before. I saw sympathy swimming in them. She put her hand on top of mine and said to me.
“It must have been terrible for you. I’m really sorry to hear that. Have you told anyone this before?”
I let my tongue flow free with words, there was no going back now I reasoned with myself,
“No, no one knows now other than you and me” I loved how that sounded ‘You and me’ It made my heart soar and my stomach flip. I wondered if she would notice but she didn’t. Instead she put her hand on top of mine and my heart skipped a beat and flew off with my head.
“Thank you for trusting me. It means a lot. Not many people do, most people think I’m weird…”
“You’re not weird” The words flew from my mouth too fast for me to stop them. I think she blushed but I couldn’t be sure because it was dark but I knew for sure I was, badly.
“You’re really sweet” A strand of her hair fell about her face, without thinking I tucked it behind her ear. She giggled and smiled up at me. I knew this was my chance.
“Do you want to go out with me?” I held my breath but not for long because the bell went and we all filed out of the classroom. She waited for me outside with her head tilted slightly to one side.
“Yes” She looked at me in the eyes. I think I was melting inside because everything turned to jelly. She smiled and I finally found my feet so we walked on together to Lunch. She took my hand and I squeezed it gently, happiness brimming inside of me. We bumped into my best friend Jamie and Honey’s best friend Alice and they sensed something straight away. Alice’s eyes widened and she gasped pointing to me then Honey then out hands.
“You two are dating? Since when? Wow! Really!” She gasped.
“Since five minutes ago and yes we are dating” She spoke excitedly to Alice.
We both sat down still holding hands and Honey started talking like nothing had ever happened but with a higher and faster tone that screamed enthusiasm. Inwardly I smiled.
That lunchtime soared by and before I knew it the bell had gone and everybody was scrambling up and to class. She paused in front of me and took both my hands in hers. My heart quickened as she kissed me gently on the cheek and hurried of to class, looking back once to smile gently.
Lost and found… I knew one thing…
I was a simple sucker for romance.
